The Cadiz Bay Port Authority will be promoting its infrastructure and services to host refrigerated transport of perishable products in the world’s largest fruit and vegetable trade fair, Fruit Logistica, which is being held from 5th to 7th February in Berlin, Germany.
The APBC is participating in collaboration with Puertos del Estado, on whose stand it will be staying, to contact operators and exporters of refrigerated transport products, with the aim of explaining to them the services offered from the Cadiz port and the current and future infrastructures.
The fair, which is held annually, has more than 3,200 exhibitors presenting their produce and services to buyers dedicated to the marketing of fruit and vegetables.
According to the organisers, foreign participation has reached 80 percent. In total, more than 78,000 professionals from 130 countries will be attending the fair and various technical conferences. All the decision makers in the sector and commercial partners from wholesalers and retailers, producers or intermediaries involved in importing and exporting will be in the pavilions and the Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz will take advantage of their presence to establish commercial contacts and exhibit the facilities and services offered by the Cadiz port.
It should be remembered that the Port of Cadiz occupies a prominent position in the movement of perishable cargo thanks to the regular line with the Canary Islands by Trasmediterránea, belonging to the shipping company Armas, which recently reinforced the regular line with the incorporation of the ship Volcán de Teneguía.
The freighter, which accepts lolo and roro containers, operates weekly every Tuesday, improving the connectivity between Cadiz and the Canary Islands by joining the ro-ro ships Ciudad de Palma and José María Entrecanales, which already operate on this line offering the shortest transit time from the peninsula to the Canary Islands.
