The company Acuicultura Cádiz EME-450.1 will build a multi-fattening module of seriola (lemon fish)
Wednesday, 21 October 2020. The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz has approved the granting of an administrative concession to the company Acuicultura Cadiz EME-450.1, S.L. for the occupation of land on the left bank of the River Guadalete, in El Puerto de Santa Maria, for the construction of a multi-fattening module of seriola (lemon fish).
The plot, located in the aquaculture cluster of the port’s dock, has a surface area of 10,000 square metres and the term for which the concession is requested is 35 years.
The project provides for an annual production of 450 tonnes, based on the use of seawater recirculation technology (RAS), a clean and non-polluting process, which guarantees the industrial production of this species.
The fattening module will have a built area of 4,541 square metres on the ground floor and almost 2,000 square metres in the mezzanine. The facilities will have fattening tanks, offices, water treatment areas, work and classification areas, a control and surveillance area, a warehouse, a cold room, a laboratory, a workshop, warehouses, changing rooms, a waste storage area, a reserve tank and a decanter.
The total investment amounts to 2.3 million euros.
As it is known, on the left bank of the Guadalete River, in an area of public port domain, there is an important cluster of aquaculture exploitation industries that are pioneers in the sector and have made a strong commitment to innovation, technology, research and development. International and also local companies have set their sights on this space, due to its special characteristics (of the river water), for aquaculture breeding and production.
The Port Authority of the Bay of Cadiz values positively the implantation of a new concession in the public domain space both from the point of view of the cluster, which adds an important company, and from the impact on the environment.
